The advanced filter media for today's
serious pond enthusiast. One look at Matala® will convince you of its practical and versatile
qualities. The open, highly aerobic 3 dimensional structure promotes healthy water conditions
and ease of cleaning in most non-pressurized filter designs. Matala® is a filter media that
is simple and that works.
The various densities can be used in sequence or separately for unique filtration requirements.
This is one of the greatest characteristics which Matala has to offer. No other media on the market
can perform this step-wise filtration. Matala effectively separates large particles to small and
still maintains a very aerobic and free flow of water without channeling. Matala is slightly buoyant
and will not sink to the bottom of your filter. Matala stood vertically on end will not float. Matala
stacked horizontally will hold each other down. Due to it's rigidity the Matala can be wedged in
place in the filter without support. |
| One half sheet of Matala has the following characteristics:
Approximately 24" x 39" x 1.5" (60cm x 100cm x 4cm)
Weight per half sheet is between 4 to 5 pounds depending on density.
One half sheet is 6.5 sq. ft.
8 sq. ft. equals 1 cubic ft of media |
One half sheet equals .8 cubic feet or 6 gallon volume.
- Semi-rigid, self-supporting and non-brittle.
- Specific gravity: 0.95. Slightly buoyant.

Matala Expandable gravity filter maximizes Matala® filter media performance. The rugged Biosteps 10 contains an amazing 200 sq. ft. of surface area for beneficial bacteria growth, combined with a cross flow design that traps and processes more debris at high flow rates. This design gives you unparalleled mechanical and biological filtration for superior water quality.
Combine multiple units for large or heavily stocked koi ponds, or use Biosteps 10 with optional UV Clarifier for improved water clarity. Universal barbed inlet (1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2"), 1-1/2" outlet. Measures 23-3/16" x 15" x 20-3/16" high. For ponds up to 10,000 liters / 2,700 gallons.

The Matala Pond Vac II, also known as the MuckBuster, offers a 2 H.P. motor made with the highest quality German manufactured components. Suction tests were four times more powerful than its competition with a suction lift 5’ above water.

The air diffuser platform allows you to mount air diffuser(s) firmly at the bottom of the pond and keeps the air diffusers up out of the mud. The air diffuser platform has a hollow base that can be filled with sand or gravel.
Choose the number of disc diffusers your installation needs.
Precision perforated I-shaped slits open when airflow is present and close when airflow is stopped, which increases durability and longevity, as well as cleanliness.
These diffusers offer the lowest back pressure in the market, adding less than 6 inches of water depth backpressure, allowing you to utilize your air pump more efficiently.
All models come with a single 3/4" PT female threaded outlet connection, and are secured with a 304st. steel clamping ring. The diffuser discs surface material is EPDM.
A Quick uni-pack available to easy connect 2 air diffuser platforms together with only one 3/4" PT threaded outlet connector; double the aeration performance without extra air pump or air tubing!
